Unit 7

"One cannot lead another where one has not gone himself"

I believe this statement is so true. You cannot lead someone if you have not gone yourself. If you are teaching someone to be healthy yet you don't follow your own advice, why should someone take you seriously? why should they believe what you are saying is true when you dont even believe in it yourself to even do it??

WE are health professionals and if we truely believe in what we do, then we will take our own advice and we will be that much better at our profession when a client is in need of our adivce.

  1. Danielle,

I have to agree. We have to set an example for those we are trying to help or those that have sought out advise. I took a yoga class the other day, the instructor was severely overweight, turns out she was super flexible and a good teach. I had doubts though at the beginning of class as to her ability to be a successful teacher.

  2. Danielle,

AMEN SISTER, you hit the nail on the head, you cannot expect anybody to follow your advise if you yoursel cant walk the walk and talk the talk. I think to be successful at all in this line of work you fully have to dedicate yourself and continually learn. take care. : )

  3. Hi Danielle,
They say "practice what you preach" and that is so much more convincing than someone who is an avid smoker telling someone they need to quit! WE have to walk the walk! That doesn't mean we fall off that wagon sometimes as we all do but we have to have enough insight to get back on! Have a great day!
